Ultrasound Guided Injections
Ultrasound-guided injections allow the practitioner to visualize the needle in real time as it enters the body and traverses to the desired location
Taking Health and Recovery Seriously with Ultrasound Guided Injections
Our clinic takes your health and recovery very seriously. For this reason, ultrasound-guidance is used with most of the injection procedures we offer to ensure optimal results and aid the provider in seeing and avoiding potential complications in real-time.
In addition to being able to provide increased precision with injections, using ultrasound also allows us to visualize the fluid dynamics / flow so that we can ensure that the treatment is being evenly distributed and placed exactly where it is needed.
How Do Ultrasound Guided Injections Work?
Ultrasound-guided injections are performed in a similar way as traditional injections. To ensure image clarity, an ultrasound gel (or other medium) is applied to the skin. The gel conducts soundwaves between the skin and the ultrasound probe to ensure the reflected sound waves have minimal interference and produce a clear, accurate image. The probe, also known as a transducer or scanner, is then placed near or adjacent to the targeted area (tendon, joint, etc.). Once the correct anatomic landmarks are identified on the monitor, the injection is provided using a hypodermic needle and syringe.
